Mission Statement and History
To dedicate ourselves to the education and to the prevention of blindness. To encourage clients to seek independence and believe in their ability to lead productive and independent lives. Since 1947 the Lawrence County Association for the Blind has been helping visually impaired residents lead productive, independent lives, as well as educating the public on the prevention of blindness. We often don't give a second thought to the many little tasks that make up our day, but for people who are blind or visually impaired, seemingly simple tasks like opening and paying bills, cooking, paying for purchases at the store, reading a book, looking up a phone number, or even crossing the street can be daunting and sometimes dangerous tasks. We, at Lawrence County Association for the Blind, are dedicated to supporting autonomy and independence by assisting the visually impaired with these and many other tasks essential to independent living. |
